Carles Anton Named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week

TROY, Ala. – Troy men's tennis' Carles Anton was named the Sun Belt Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week after helping lead Troy to an HEB Invitational Championship down in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Anton earned his first career player of the week honor after going 2-0 at No. 2 singles and 1-0 at the No. 1 position while also posting a 2-1 record at No. 2 doubles.

Anton has been on a tear during the start of the dual match season. The freshman from Valencia, Spain has earned a perfect 11-0 dual match singles record with a 7-0 mark on court three, a 3-0 mark on court two and a 1-0 mark on the top court. Anton has also earned a 10-1 doubles record so far this season.

Anton becomes the first Trojan men's tennis player since Andy Lau back on March 16, 2016 to be named the Sun Belt Player of the Week.

Troy enters a jam-packed weekend at home with a 7-4 record and a two-match winning streak. The Trojans will host Alabama A&M on Thursday at 2 p.m. UT Chattanooga on Friday at 2 p.m. and Southern Miss on Saturday at 11 a.m.
