Troy Welcomes McNeese State for Midweek Contest

TROY, Ala. – Following a successful outing in the Diamond 9 Citrus Classic, the Troy softball team welcomes McNeese State for a midweek tilt Wednesday at the Troy Softball Complex. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Last weekend, the Trojans (10-3) traveled to Orlando, Fla., where they picked up wins over Oakland, Stetson, Morgan State and Villanova. Troy's only loss came to Clemson.

Leanna Johnson (6-2) earned her fourth shutout victory of the season against Stetson. The sophomore's four shutouts puts her at the top of national rankings. Johnson also sits at fifth nationally in strikeouts with 87.

Kelly Horne leads the Trojans at the plate batting a team-best .394 mark with 11 RBI. Horne smashed her second long ball of the season over the weekend putting her among two others with a team-high two home runs.

Scouting the Cowgirls:
McNeese State (13-2) is coming off an impressive outing in the Mardi Gras Mambo, where they went 5-0 including wins over Sun Belt Conference foes South Alabama and ULM.

The Cowgirl pitching staff enters the week leading the nation in ERA (0.74) and just ahead of Troy in shutouts with six.

McNeese State is led by freshman Caylon Brabham. Brabham is batting a .514 clip with 18 hits, six doubles and 12 RBI.

Wednesday is Softball Bingo night at the Troy Softball Complex. The first 15 fans with a BINGO will receive a prize.
The first 100 fans to the game will receive a free Chick-fil-A sandwich.
The game will serve as SGA Appreciation Night. SGA President Morgan Long will throw out the first pitch.
