Troy Picks Up Two Shutout Victories in the Citrus Classic

ORLANDO, Fla. – Leanna Johnson picked up her fourth shutout victory of the season over Stetson, 3-0, before Troy's offense ignited connecting on 13 hits to power them past Morgan State, 12-0, Saturday at ESPN Wide World of Sports.

Johnson (5-2) picked up her fourth shutout win and fourth double-digit strikeout game of the season while Kynsley Rae Blasingame (1-0) recorded her first win of the season in an exciting fashion, pitching a five-inning shutout.

Game One: Troy 3, Stetson 0
Libby Baker blasted a two-run home run over the left-field wall to put the Trojans (9-3) on the board in the bottom of the second inning.

Meagan Patterson tacked on a run for Troy in the bottom of the sixth inning smashing a double down the left-field line to score Baker who led off with a single.

Johnson struck out two of the three batters faced in the top of the seventh inning to solidify the win over Stetson in game one of the day.

Chloe Temples (5-2) suffered the loss for the Hatters (6-6) allowing three runs, seven hits and a walk.

Game Two: Troy 12, Morgan State 0
After plating a run in the top of the first and second inning, Troy's offense blew the game open scoring eight runs in the top of the third inning.

A double by Kaylee Chapman and a single by Katie Webb plated the first two runs of the inning. A pair of walks and back-to-back-singles by Anslee Finch and Patterson scored two and set up Logan Calhoun for a two-run double.

A wild pitch and a groundout rounded out Troy's scoring rally with two more runs.

In the top of the fourth inning, Troy tacked on two more runs with doubles by Jade Sinness and Adia Polk.

Blasingame earned her first win of the season scattering three hits and a walk in five innings of work.

Mikayla Barnard (1-2) suffered the loss for the Bears (2-6) giving up six runs off five hits and walk.

- Today marks the first time the Trojans have pitched back-to-back shutouts since Troy shutout Alabama State and Valparaiso on February 8-9, 2018.
- The Trojans' underclassmen continue to be the dominant forces in the lineup accounting for 15 of Troy's 20 hits.
- Troy's senior class earned their 100th win in a Trojan uniform in Troy's victory over Morgan State.
