TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's basketball team earned its 21st win of the season Thursday night in front of a crowd of over 2,000. The Trojans 21st win of the season came against traditional Sun Belt power Little Rock, 77-59. The win keeps the Trojans in a tie for first-place in the Sun Belt standings with Coastal Carolina.
The contrasting styles of play were on full display Thursday night as the pace of play was slowed and defense became the key. Both teams shot right around 30 percent for the first-half before finding a rhythm in the second. Troy found its rhythm right away in the third and used that to end the game shooting 35 percent on 30-of-84 shooting. The Trojans were led offensively by Alexus Dye who recorded her team-high seventh double-double of the season with 16-points and a career-high 17 rebounds. Dye was joined in double-figures on the offensive end by Amber Rivers (13-points), Kayla Robinson (12-points) and Japonica James (10-points). Kayla Robinson and James both nearly recorded double-doubles of their own as they grabbed eight and seven boards respectively.
Troy held Little Rock to just 31 percent shooting on the night and just 33 percent from behind-the-arc. Little Rock was led by Teal Battle who scored a game-high 24-points and Kyra Collier who recorded a double-double with 16-points and 13 rebounds.
The Trojans outscored Little Rock in three of the four quarters on Thursday. After outscoring them by just five-points in the first-half Troy began to open up the game in the second, outscoring Little Rock by 13-points in the final 20 minutes. Troy's largest lead of 18-points came at in the final seconds of the contest when Tiyah Johnson scored a late layup to give the Trojans 77-points on the evening.

On the overall outcome of the game
"It's a win against Little Rock and we'll take it. We are 21-4 and very thankful for that while holding on tonight to remain in first-place so we are thankful for that. I think we could have played a lot better I think at the end of the game if they had the gas still in them they could have made a few shots to make things could have been different so I'm concerned about that. We let up at the wrong times but overall I am very happy."
