MATTHEWS, La. – Brent Hamm fired a 6-under 66 to highlight Troy's play Monday at the LaTour Intercollegiate at the LaTour Golf Club. Hamm played a bogey-free round with four birdies and an eagle to pace the Trojans. The Trojans are in 10th place overall as a team.
Hamm and Will McFadden are tied for 27th place at 2-under par heading into Tuesday's final round. Hamm opened with a 4-over 76 before shooting his career-low round. Hamm's second trek through the course opened with an eagle on the par-5 third hole and he ended the day with birdies on two of his final three holes. The 6-under 66 is tied for the third-best round by a Trojan this season.
McFadden carded six birdies on the day for his matching rounds of 1-under, including a stretch of three straight towards the end of his first round. Connor Futrell, who entered the week ranked 45th nationally, is tied for 41st place at 1-over par following rounds of 72 and 73.
Ryan Morrison, Nicklas Borrmann and Bryson Bianco are all tied for 54th place at 5-over after day one.
Troy will play alongside Incarnate Word, Houston Baptist and New Orleans for Tuesday's final round, which begins at 8 a.m.
