Trojans Notch Win Number One for the Spring

TROY, Ala. –Troy women's tennis saw success on Saturday as they took down in-state foe Alabama State 7-0 to claim not only their first win of the spring, but also their first home win of the season. The Trojans saw strong performances from junior Matea Mihaljevic and freshman Shevita Aulana.

Doubles
• In number one doubles, Chunxi Guo paired up with Anastasiia Khrustaleva to defeat Vivien Kutacova and Marija Blazevic 6-4, to claim the first of two needed doubles wins.

• The second match in doubles play that concluded came from the number three doubles, where Tijana Svitlica and Anastasiia Khokhlova fell to Maria Popova and Madalena Andrade 6-3.

• In the number two doubles Matea Mihaljevic and Shevita Aulana clinched the doubles point on the afternoon by defeating Urska Velec and Bea Acena 7-5.

Singles

• In number one singles Matea Mihaljevic defeated Maria Popova 6-2, 6-0 to give the Trojans an early 2-0 lead over the Hornets.

•The second singles match that concluded on the afternoon saw Shevita Aulana make quick work of Marija Blazevic 6-1, 6-0 to give Troy the 3-0 advantage.

• The match that clinched the victory for the Trojans came from the number three singles where Chunxi Guo defeated Urska Velec 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 to give Troy the decisive fourth point.

• In number two singles Anastasiia Khokhlova defeated Madalena Andrade 3-6, 7-5, 6-1 to keep the unblemished day alive.

• Tijana Svitlica defeated Bea Acena in three sets 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 to increase the Trojan lead to 6-0.

• In number 6 singles Anastasiia Khrustaleva went three sets with Vivien Kutacova and walked away with a 2-6, 7-5, 6-3 win to conclude afternoon for the Trojans.
