MATCH NOTES
TROY, Ala. – Troy volleyball will close out the regular season on the road with a three-match series at Georgia Southern. First serve between the Trojans and Eagles is set for Thursday, Nov. 12 at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. CT, and Friday, Nov. 13 at noon.
Troy has already clinched the No. 2 seed in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament with a series sweep over Appalachian State last weekend. The second-place finish ties the highest conference finish since Troy joined the Sun Belt in 2005 (also finished second in 2012).
"This team's confidence is moving in a really positive direction," head coach Josh Lauer said. "This weekend is a really good opportunity for us to prepare for what is most likely going to be our first match in the conference tournament, potentially also against Georgia Southern. It's a good chance for our team to build some consistency and confidence so we're excited for this series."

Troy enters the series needing two wins to break the program record for most conference wins in a season. The Trojans went unbeaten at home in 2020, but are just 1-4 on the road this season. Troy will need production from two of its most consistent attackers in Halston Hillier and Julia Brooks in order to improve its away record.
Hillier is playing the best volleyball of her career at the right time of year. The junior has posted four-straight matches with double-figure kill numbers, totaling 45 kills in all – the best four-match stretch in her career. Brooks continues to be one of the most efficient hitters in the Sun Belt, hitting at a .307 clip which is the sixth-best mark in the league this season.
Junior setter Amara Anderson continues to be one of the top setters in the nation running the Trojan attack. Anderson's 545 total assists are the fifth-most in the country this season while her average of 10.28 assists/set ranks 15th nationally.
Lacey Jeffcoat is having a career year at libero for the Trojans. The junior has turned in seven matches with at least 20 digs and her 258 digs rank eighth nationally this season. Jeffcoat is averaging 4.87 digs per set which is the 11th-best mark in the country.
After struggling early in the season, Troy seems to have found its groove from the service line. The Trojans rank second nationally with 91 aces this season and three Trojans (Anderson, 13th; Natalie Hummel,18th; Jeffcoat, 25th) rank inside the top 25 nationally in aces this season.
With a quick turnaround between this week's series and next week's conference tournament, Troy will be looking to use the depth its built under coach Lauer. That depth has already showed that it can produce when called upon as seven different Trojans have registered double-figure kills in a match this season, and six players have set or tied their single-match career high in kills.

The Eagles are led offensively by Chamblee Russell who has 101 kills on the year. Defensively, Rebekah Farthing leads Georgia Southern with 136 digs. Russell and Landon Jones each have 10 aces on the season.
