Troy Volleyball Adds Two Newcomers

TROY, Ala. – Troy head volleyball coach Josh Lauer announced the addition of two standout high school players Wednesday. Caroline Darracott and Sophie Sparks comprise Lauer's fifth recruiting class and will enroll at Troy University in the fall of 2021.

Darracott joins the Trojans from Newnan, Ga., where she posted over 1,400 digs and helped lead the Cougars to four consecutive playoff berths. The all-region selection and region defensive MVP also tallied 192 aces and 42 kills throughout her career. Darracott helped lead the Cougars to a sweep over McIntosh, the No. 1 team in Georgia and a top 10 team nationally.
"Caroline is a fiery competitor and will continue the Troy tradition of athletic, high volleyball IQ players at the DS/Libero position. Caroline is extremely quick and has fantastic defensive range. She will also bring great competitive energy to the gym and a relentless work ethic to the classroom."

Olentangy HS / Advancement Academy Volleyball Club
Sparks comes to Troy from Olentangy High School where she posted 793 career kills and helped lead the Braves to a 2020 conference championship. The OCC Player of the Year also registered 57 aces and 194 blocks throughout her career. Sparks was twice tabbed a first team all-conference selection and was first team all-district in 2020.
"Sophie is a driven student-athlete who is going to add length and physicality to our pin hitter position. She is a positive teammate and has tremendous work ethic. Sophie also brings the gritty Midwest volleyball IQ and attitude with her to Troy."
