PROTECTING OUR HOUSE: Troy is unbeaten in nine of its last 10 home matches. The Trojans have won seven of nine at home and five of seven SBC matches at the Troy Soccer Complex. In five home matches last season, the Trojans outscored opponents 16-3.
SO, WE MEET AGAIN: During the first matchup between the Trojans and Jaguars, the Trojans suffered a heart- breaking 2-1 defeat in double-overtime. After neither team was able to find the back of the net, the Trojans finally broke the ice in the 87th-minute when Alisa Detlefsen's corner found Kate Eubanks in the center of the box. With the seconds bleeding off the clock, the Trojans looked to have won, but a last-second (three seconds left) penalty kick allowed the Jaguars to tie the match at one. After the two sides, played over 16 minutes of scoreless overtime, the Jaguars found the golden-goal with three minutes and 30 seconds remain- ing in double-overtime. The loss snapped Troy's two-match unbeaten streak over South.
YOUTH MOVEMENT: The 2020 Trojans roster features just one senior (Eleonore Freby). The Trojans and head coach Ged O'Connor welcomed 14 newcomers to Troy this season. Four freshmen have started every match (Anderson, Bloomfield, LaRoche and Tessier) for Troy this season. Back on Sept. 20 at South Alabama five Trojans (Anderson, Babineaux, Bloomfield, LaRoche and Tessier) earned the start. In total, 10 of the Trojans 14 true freshmen have seen action.
FRESH[MAN] FACE: Freshman Regielly Halldorsdottir scored her first-career goal against Georgia Southern Sunday afternoon. The Iceland native made her first career start and appearance Friday night against Georgia State.
SETTING IT UP: The Trojans have scored 15 times off set pieces (corner kicks, free kicks and penalty kicks) in their last 22 games. All three Trojan goals this season have been scored off set piece opportunities.
GED TALKS:
"With such a young team, we were able to give them a lot of extra down time this week. After last week's busy schedule, there were a few minor bumps and bruises that we were able to address. Our training session yesterday was brilliant and I think our girls are really dialed in and ready to return to the pitch. The girls are incredibly frustrated with the way that our season has gone up until this point. We've been really close to getting a positive result many times. Now our job as coaches is to get to channel that frustration positively. We need to stay the course and get better day."
