TROY, Ala. -- Featuring home games against UAB and Chattanooga and road trips to Texas A&M and Indiana, Troy men's basketball head coach Scott Cross announced the Trojans' complete schedule for the 2019-20 season on Tuesday.
Season tickets for the entire 15-game home slate are on sale now and can be purchased by visiting TroyTrojans.com/tickets or by calling 877-878-WINS (9467). General admission season tickets start at just $50 and reserved seats at just $200.
"I'm very happy with how well and quickly the schedule came together for us," Cross said. "Overall, I think it's a very strong schedule. We open with a home game against an in-state rival, which is a great way to begin our season. Opening with a pair of home games is important because you want to play as many games as possible at home in the non-conference with the hopes of building confidence levels."
Troy opens the 2019-20 season with a pair of home games against in-state rival UAB (Nov. 7) and Chattanooga (Nov. 12). The Trojans next hit the road for the first time for a road contest at Indiana (Nov. 16), before returning home for a matchup with Carver College (Nov. 18).
The first of three, three-game road trips begins on Nov. 20 when the Trojans visit Buzz Williams and the Texas A&M Aggies, before concluding the road trip with a pair of in-state matchups with Samford (Nov. 23) and Alabama A&M (Nov. 25).
"The games against Indiana and Texas A&M will be very exciting," Cross said. "Indiana, historically speaking, is a basketball powerhouse and I've never played there so it will be exciting to go up there and play at a historic venue like Assembly Hall. I think we're playing a lot of local teams that fans should have an interest in seeing and are familiar with. The main goal of the non-conference season is to prepare your team for the Sun Belt season, and I think we've done a solid job of that."
Following a brief break for the Thanksgiving holiday, the Trojans return to action with a pair of home dates against Shorter University (Nov. 30) and North Alabama (Dec. 4). Hitting the road for the next two, the Trojans play at Jacksonville State (Dec. 11) before concluding non-conference play at Chattanooga (Dec. 15).
"I think the Sun Belt is going to be a very deep league again this season and should be very even," Cross said. "I think it's going to be difficult to project the order-of-finish this year because there are seven or eight teams that can win our league. Our goal is to be competitive and to put ourselves in position to win the league come late February or early March."
Switching to a 20-game conference schedule for the first time in 19-20 means Sun Belt Conference play gets going before the new year, as Troy welcomes Coastal Carolina (Dec. 19) and Appalachian State (Dec. 21) to conclude 2019.
Troy's lone Sun Belt doubleheader with the women's program happens against Arkansas State (Jan. 25). The Trojans have one three-game homestand during conference play that kicks off with a rivalry game against South Alabama (Feb. 8).
The 2020 Sun Belt Championship takes a different form this season, with the first and second rounds moving to campus sites before shifting to the Final Four at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.
