Football Set for Saturday Scrimmage and Fan Day

TROY, Alabama – Final preparations are underway for the Troy football team as Chip Lindsey's squad is just two weeks away from its season opener against Campbell on Aug. 31 at The Vet. Troy will hold its second and final scrimmage of the fall on Saturday morning before moving to Trojan Arena from 1-3 p.m. for Troy's annual Fan Day.

"We've had a great week of practice, and I'm looking forward to seeing how we've progressed in a live game setting on Saturday," Lindsey said. "This is going to be a great opportunity for us to work on a lot of different game situations and get some quality film to study the next two weeks. These scrimmages are important for our players to run our sets at full speed and work on our specialized packages in a game situation."

Saturday's scrimmage, which will not be open to either the media nor the public, will feature approximately 100 plays as Lindsey and his staff begin to make final decisions on a depth chart and playing time leading into the season opener.

Troy, which has won 31 games over the last three years, returns seven full time starters plus six other players who started a game last season on the offensive side of the ball, while the Trojan defense welcomes back five full time starters and three others who earned a start.

The action moves to Trojan Arena in the afternoon where the football team will be joined by the Troy volleyball, soccer and cross country teams in addition to T-Roy and the Troy Cheerleaders for Fan Day. Fans will be treated to free posters, hot dogs and drinks throughout Fan Day while all the teams will be seated around Trojan Arena signing autographs.Â
