Will McFadden Finishes Third at Alabama State Amateur

TROY, Alabama – Rising Troy sophomore Will McFadden fired a 6-under 281 to finish third at the 103^rdAlabama State Amateur Championship which concluded play Sunday at the Turtle Point Yacht & Country Club in Killen, Ala.

McFadden shot a 4-under in the opening round with his card reaching 7-under at one point. The Mobile, Ala., native followed with a 2-under second round thanks to a blistering back nine. McFadden made the turn at 2-over par and responded with four birdies and five pars on the back of the course.

"My putter has been my friend," McFadden told the Times Daily following the third round. "It hasn't let me down. Everything feels solid. I made a couple of bad swing on the front nine, but I attribute that to nerves. It's been a solid three days."

McFadden closed out the 54-hole event with a pair of even par rounds to finish three shots off the pace in a tie for third place overall.
