Porter Walks Off; Troy Gets The Series Sweep

 TROY, Alabama – Senior Madeline Porter smashed a walk-off single to push Troy past South Alabama, 4-3, in the Senior Day series finale Saturday afternoon at the Troy Softball Complex.

Madeline Porter's series-winning single marks the first time since 2009 that the Trojans (37-18, 19-8 Sun Belt) have swept South Alabama (18-31, 7-20) and sends Troy into the Sun Belt Conference tournament as the second seed.

Troy's 19 conference wins is the best league record in program history.

The Jaguars got on the board first with a two-run home run by Kennedy Cronan in the top of the first inning.

Troy took the lead in the bottom of the third inning with a bases-clearing double to left center by Katie Webb, but South Alabama answered with a run in the top of the fourth to tie the game.

Annie Willis (9-10) picked up the win after sitting down 11 of the 13 batters she faced to send Troy back to the plate in the bottom of the seventh.

Hope Hernandez led off the bottom half of the inning with a single and was moved over with a sacrifice bunt to set up Porter for the walk-off single up the middle.

Alexis Reid (10-18) suffered the loss for the Jaguars giving up four runs, seven hits and two walks.

The Trojans will open play in the Sun Belt Conference tournament on Thursday in San Marcos, Texas as the second seed.
