Troy Heads to Florida for NCAA East Preliminaries

Jacksonville, Fla. – 19 athletes from the Troy track & field program are set to compete at the NCAA East Preliminary Round held at the University of North Florida's Hodges Stadium from May 23-25.

At the meet there are 48 competitors in each individual event and 24 relay teams per race, with the top 12 finishers in each event advancing to the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships held at Mike A. Myers Stadium at the University of Texas from June 5-8.

Daquan Coleman will begin action for Troy on Thursday in the 400m hurdles first round at 4 p.m. CT. Jared Hayes (100m, first round) and Niata Alexander (400m, first round) will race on Thursday as well at 5:55 p.m. CT and 6:20 p.m. CT, respectively.

On Friday Casimir Tawiah kickstarts the action for Troy as he will run in the 110m hurdles first round at 4 p.m. CT. Alexander, Hayes and Matthew Likely will run in the 200m first round on Friday at respective times of 6:30 p.m. CT and 6:55 p.m. CT.

On the final day of competition, Titus Sizemore starts things off in the high jump first round at 3 p.m. CT. The women's 4x100 relay quarterfinal race is set for 5 p.m. CT while the men's quarterfinal begins at 5:15 p.m. The 4x400m quarterfinals relays will wrap up action at the prelims with the women starting at 8:25 p.m. CT and the men close things out at 8:45 p.m.
