TROY, Alabama – Troy split a doubleheader Saturday against ULM at Riddle-Pace Field winning the opener, 10-4, before falling in the nightcap, 14-6. The split pushed the series in Troy's favor, and the Trojans have now won six of their last seven Sun Belt Conference series.
Â
Rigsby Mosley led Troy (27-25, 14-13) with four hits on the day – two in each game – with three of them going for extra bases. Mosley was part of a four-home run attack by the Trojans in game one and also added a double in each of the games. Troy's four home runs in the opener marked the third time in the last seven games that the Trojans belted at least four homers in a game.
Â
Levi Thomas (6-2) pitched around both sides of an 87-minute lightning delay in the opener and finished the day with five strikeouts and just two hits allowed over 5.2 innings in the winning effort.Â
Â
The Trojans scored two runs in five different innings in game one of the doubleheader with four RBIs from Mosley while Sadler Goodwin added a pair of RBIs on a double and a home run.
Â
Manning Early finished with three hits in six at-bats with a double and a home run over the two games while Reed Smith added three hits and a triple on the day.
Â
ULM (23-27, 11-15) struck for five runs on just two hits in the first inning of game two and answered each one of Troy's run-scoring inning with runs in its next at-bat. Troy got the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the fourth down 7-3, but the Warhawks made a slick fielding play back up the middle to end the threat.
Â
Kolton Childress (4-2) picked up the win for ULM with four innings out of the bullpen allowing just two runs – one earned – on five hits.  Chad Bell hit a pair of home runs to lead a 14-hit ULM attack in the game.
Â
Quotable – Troy Head Coach Mark Smartt
"Today is always a tough day with it being the last home game for our seniors. There is finality to it and there is a little bit of emotion to it. These four guys have had a great impact on this team as seniors. I told them I appreciate the way they handled their senior year; they've done a great job carrying on the tradition of Troy Baseball – doing things the right way, playing the right way and representing the program the right way. That means a lot to me. Wins and losses are wins and losses, but how you carry yourself and who you are sustain you for a long time. I know this, regardless of what happens in baseball, those four seniors will be successful for many years to come."Â
