Montgomery, Ala. – Troy scored in eight of nine innings leading wire-to-wire in a dominate 20-5 win over Alabama State to complete the season sweep in non-conference baseball action at Riverwalk Stadium on Tuesday night.

The Trojans (23-22) went off for 11 extra-base hits in the contest while the Hornets (25-21) tallied nine total hits.

Junior Drew Frederic paced the Trojans at the plate going 4-of-7 with two runs scored and two RBI. Senior Chase Smartt followed with a 3-for-6 outing including a home run, his fourth of the season, two doubles, four RBI and three runs scored.

In addition to Smartt, sophomore Rigsby Mosley (5), Manning Early (4) and Reed Smith (4), freshman Tanner Jackson (2) and senior Cole Prestegard (5) all tallied a home run.

Jackson finished a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI, his fourth multi-hit game of the year. Junior Tyler Head and Smith both notched two-hit performances in Troy's 21-hit outing.

Junior Max Newton earned the win on the mound to move to 2-4 on the season. Newton finished the game tossing five innings giving up two runs on five hits with three strikeouts.

After tonight's win, Troy is a perfect 3-0 at Riverwalk Stadium with wins over Alabama State (2019), Alabama (2008) and Auburn (2006).
