Troy Hits the Road to Face No. 6 Florida State

TROY, Alabama – The Troy softball team travels to Tallahassee on Wednesday to take on No. 6 Florida State in a midweek non-conference showdown. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. (CT) at Joanne Graf Field.

The Trojans (34-15) come into the midweek matchup after taking their fifth consecutive Sun Belt series with two wins over Appalachian State.

Katie Webb leads the offensive efforts for Troy batting a .349 with six doubles, three triples, a home run and 28 RBIs. Two of Webb's three triples came this past weekend including the walk-off triple on Friday in game two of the doubleheader.

Leanna Johnson (23-6) continues to dazzle in the circle pitching her seventh shutout weekend and surpassing the 200 strikeouts mark this past weekend. The freshman comes in with a 2.08 ERA over 178.1 innings of work. The freshman ranks fourth nationally in victories with 23 and 16th nationally in strikeouts with 200.

Scouting the Seminoles
The Seminoles (41-8) come into the showdown after sweeping Boston College last weekend. Sydney Sherill leads Florida State at the plate batting a .429 with 13 doubles, 13 home runs and 45 RBIs. Dani Morgan checks in just behind her batting a .385 with nine doubles, two triples, 10 home runs and 46 RBIs.

Meghan King (21-5) spends the majority of the time in the circle for the Seminoles with a 1.61 ERA with 170 strikeouts over 143.2 innings of work. Makinzy Herzog (7-2) is just behind King with a 1.82 ERA over 57.2 innings of work.
