Troy Baseball Hosts Samford on Dollar Night

TROY, Alabama – Troy opens a four-game homestand at Riddle-Pace Field Tuesday night when the Trojans play host to in-state foe Samford at 6 p.m. on Dollar Night. All general admission tickets are just $1 for the game and fans will also be able to enjoy $1 hot dogs; the game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

The Trojans (19-17) are coming off their third straight Sun Belt Conference series victory after winning a pair at Georgia State over the weekend to cap a three-win week. Sophomore left fielder Rigsby Mosley paced the offensive attack batting at a .556 clip (10-for-18) with three home runs, a double and four walks for the week.

Troy enters the homestand winners in nine of its last 13 games overall and four of six at home. The Trojans are starting to warm the sticks up with a .311 team batting average last week including 15 extra-base hits – nine doubles and six home runs.

Junior southpaw Max Newton (1-3, 5.06) is slated to get the start on the bump for the Trojans after tossing six solid innings in a no-decision against Alabama State last Wednesday; he struck out three and yielded three runs on six hits.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Samford enters the week fresh off a sweep of the Citadel to improve to 8-1 in Southern Conference play. The Bulldogs are 3-5 in mid-week games this season and are 1-5 in their last six. Samford is among the leaders nationally in home runs ranking 26^thwith 38 long balls on the year while Sonny DiChiara is 12^{t h}nationally with 12 homers.
