Troy Downs South Alabama, Matches Program’s Longest Win Streak

TROY, Alabama – Troy downed South Alabama, 3-2, to extend its win streak to 12 games and match the program's longest win streak Wednesday night at Jaguar Field.
With their 12-consecutive win, the Trojans (30-13, 12-4 Sun Belt) match the program's longest win streak that was originally set in 1995.
Troy hopped on the board scoring three runs with hits by Talia Truitt and Bailey Taylor and two Jaguar (12-25, 2-14) errors.
Leanna Johnson (21-5) gave up a hit in the first inning, but then retired 16 straight batters heading into the bottom of the seventh.
Kennedy Cronan sent a two-run long ball over the center field wall to pull the game within one in the bottom of the seventh, but South Alabama could not complete the comeback.
Johnson picked up her fifth straight win after striking out eight batters and scattering three hits.
Alexis Reid (8-14) suffered the loss for the Jaguars giving up three runs off of four hits, two walks and two hits by pitch.

- Talia Truitt and Bailey Taylor currently hold the longest hitting streaks on the team. With the duo's hits tonight, they both extend their hitting streaks to four games.
- Leanna Johnson came into the matchup ranked third in the nation in victories and 17th in strikeouts; Johnson added eight strikeouts and another win to her resume tonight.
- Troy's win over South Alabama marks the first time that the Trojans have beat the Jaguar in Mobile under head coach Beth Mullins.
