Coastal Carolina Slips Past Troy in Sun Belt Action

CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina proved too much for Troy has the Chanticleers slipped past the Trojans, 4-2, in Sun Belt Conference action Friday at the Stevens Tennis Complex.
Troy (8-6, 2-1) was swept in doubles play for the first time this season, but battled back in singles before falling late. Celia Montero Estevan and Chunxi Guo picked up singles victories on the day, Estevan has now won three straight matches for the Trojans.
Coastal Carolina's Viktorija Demcenkova earned the match-clinching victory with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 decision over Troy's Matea Mihaljevic.
The Trojans return to action Sunday as the team travels to take on Appalachian State at 10 a.m. (CT).
DOUBLES
• On Court 1, Jennifer Brown and Jessie Mount handed Troy's Chunxi Guo and Pei Ju Hsieh their first doubles loss of the season, 6-0. Guo and Hsieh entered the match as the lone undefeated duo in the Sun Belt with more than three decisions.
• Demcenkova and Somer Dalla-Bona claimed the doubles point for the Chanticleers with a 6-3 win over Mihaljevic and Tingting Pei on Court 2.
SINGLES
• Guo picked up a point for Troy defeating Alexa Tiefel, 6-3, 6-4 on Court 6.
• Mount gave CCU a 3-1 match advantage with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Maria Casas Blas.
• Estevan got the Trojan back in it with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Alicja Zduniak. The victory moved Estevan to 5-2 when playing Court 4.
• Mihaljevic took the first set from Demcenkova, 6-4, before dropping the next two, 6-3, 6-2, to seal the match.
• Pei fell to Dalla-Bona, 6-4, 6-1.
