TROY, Alabama – The Troy women's tennis team ventures to the north and east to square off against Coastal Carolina Friday and Appalachian State Sunday.
Â
The Trojans (8-5, 2-0 SBC) are riding a season-best four-game winning streak and bring the hottest doubles pair in the league in Pei Ju Hsieh and Chunxi Guo. The duo is 11-0 in all doubles decisions this season, including a 3-0 mark since moving to Court 1.
Â
Tingting Pei is coming off a stellar week that saw her reel off three consecutive singles victories on Court 3. Alongside Matea Mihaljevic, Pei also won her doubles match against Grambling State.
Â
Coastal Carolina (8-6, 1-1) fell to Appalachian State before topping Arkansas State to open Sun Belt play. The Chanticleers have won four of their last five matches after defeating Fairfield and West Virginia State earlier in the week.
Â
Appalachian State (8-4, 2-0) has also won four of its last five matches after knocking off Coastal Carolina and Arkansas State last week. The Mountaineers are led by reigning Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week, Jeannez Daniel, who had her best week by far going a perfect 2-0 in both singles and doubles and leading App State to its first back-to-back road wins in conference play since joining the Sun Belt. Daniel clinched the match in the 4-2 victory over Coastal Carolina and gave Appalachian State its first singles win in the 4-3 triumph over Arkansas State. Against the Red Wolves, her doubles win with senior Rebecca Morse tied up the doubles portion after Arkansas State won the first doubles match. Daniel has turned it on as of late, boasting a 5-2 singles record over her last seven matches and a 5-1 doubles record over her last six contests.
