Troy, Ala. – Troy track and field will head to Starkville, Miss., to compete in the Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays held at Mississippi State from March 22-23.

There will be a total of 28 teams including two Sun Belt Conference teams competing at the Mike Sanders Track Complex throughout the weekend. The first event of the meet is the women's hammer throw set to begin at 10 a.m. on Friday. Running events on Friday begin with the women's 100-meter hurdles at 3 p.m. Â

Last Time Out
Troy held the first-ever Doc Anderson Invitational and both the men's and women's teams took home first place. The women racked up 251 points while the men secured 357.5 points.Â

Senior Helga Volgyi took home gold as she launched a 54.09-meter throw in the hammer throw to set the tone for Troy at the invite as the hammer throw was the first event at the meet. In the 400m race, senior Niata Alexander finished atop 10 runners in with a time of 56.89 while sophomore Precious Ogba notched second placed after clocking a time of 57.80.

Senior Tiarra Bailey won the 800m race in a time of 2:14.62 while sophomore Jordan Smith paced the men with a first-place finish in 1:56.33.

The Trojans controlled the 1500m race as junior Gemma Finch won gold with a time of 4:47.94. Sophomore Christie Caruana notched a second-place finish in a personal best time of 4:50.24. Freshmen Tanner Guest and Caroline Sall respectively finished in third and fourth out of 23 runners with times of 4:51.65 and 4:58.37.Â

Freshman Blake Vaughn won his first career race with a time of 4:06.91. Senior Brennan Garriques finished in second out of 16 runners in 4:08.42 while junior Daniel Glick notched third place in 4:09.48

Additionally, Garriques took home gold in the 3000m race with a time of 9:00.58 while Glick finished right behind him in second in 9:00.89.

In the 100m hurdles, junior Alexis Garrett crossed the finish line in first in a time of 14.06 seconds. For the men in the 110m hurdles, junior Casimir Tawiah ran home with the gold medal after finishing the race in a person best time of 14.44 seconds.

In the 4x100 relay, Henderson, Alexander, Ogba and senior Sydney Wright finished the relay in 46.63 to take home first place. Sophomore Jared Hayes, Likely, Bishop and sophomore Amir Harris teamed up to also take home the first-place trophy with a time of 40.71 for the men.

Alexander, Ogba, Finch and Bailey ran away with gold after clocking a relay time of 3:45.01. Bonner, Hayes, Harris and McCleskey notched a first-place finish out of nine teams with a time of 3:19.63.Â

Freshmen Brittany Trawick and Amber Gordon respectively jumped into first and second in the triple jump with distances of 11.26 and 11.21 meters. Freshman Jordan Wallace led the way for the Troy men, finishing in third with a distance of 13.75 meters.Â

The four Trojans for the men all finished in the top four out of the nine throwers in the shot put. Junior Jess Jacobsen led the way taking gold with a distance of 14.89 meters. Snyder followed behind in second place with a distance of 14.20 meters.Â

Jacobsen also took gold in the discus with a mark of 47.94 meters. Snyder finished in second with a personal best throw of 46.12 meters, more than two meters better than his previous personal record.Â
