TROY, Alabama – The Troy Trojans and Maine Black Bears will meet on the diamond for the first time ever Wednesday night at 6 p.m. in the confines of Riddle-Pace Field.
Both teams limp into the meeting as Troy (9-11) is currently in a five-game slump and Maine (1-15) has won just one of its first 16 games of the 2019 season. The Trojans were swept at home for the first time since 2014 last weekend and are looking to bounce back in a big way in midweek action.
Junior Dalton Sinquefield led the Trojans at the plate throughout the series, recording a career-high three hits in all three games. Overall, he was 12-for-23 on the week with two doubles, four RBI and three runs scored.
On the mound, Troy will once again look to senior righty Sadler Goodwin for the midweek start – he's started in two of the first four midweeks of 2019 for the Trojans. His last appearance came Sunday, when he worked 2.1 innings against Arkansas State and allowed just two hits and one run with two strikeouts.
SCOUTING THE BLACK BEARS
After dropping its first 14 games of 2019, Maine finally earned its first win of the season in game two of its series at Samford last weekend. According to the NCAA, Maine has the second-toughest schedule in the nation – its opponents have combined for a 70-24 record so far this year. Cody Pasic leads the offense batting at a .286 clip on the year and heads into the Black Bear's Tuesday night meeting at Alabama with a team-high, six-game hitting streak.
