TROY, Alabama – Troy defeated Texas State, 4-1, on Saturday at the Lunsford Tennis Complex to kick-off conference play.

Troy's Maria Casas Blas defeated Texas State's Andrea Fuchs, 6-2, 6-1 to secure the first victory in conference play for the Trojans. With the win, Casas Blas extended her singles winning streak to five matches and has earned match-clinching victories in two of the last three contests. Troy improved to 7-5 (1-0 SBC) while Texas State fell to 4-6 (0-1) on the year.

DOUBLES
• Celia Montero Estevan and Maria Casas Blas won by forfeit.
• Chunxi Guo and Pei Ju Hsieh pick up the doubles match point over Rishona Isreal-Lewis and Joy Chia Ming Ming, 6-3. Guo and Hsieh now 11-0 in doubles action.

SINGLES
• Chunxi Guo secured a victory to open up singles play winning by forfeit.
• Tingting Pei defeated Chia, 6-2, 6-3, for her second straight win.
• Perez won the lone match of the day for the Bobcats, 7-5, 6-0 over Matea Mihaljevic.
• Casas Blas then secured the match victory for the Trojans, 6-2, 6-1, over Fuchs.
