DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.– Troy defeated Bethune-Cookman 4-1 on Monday at the Island City Tennis Complex to wrap up its spring break road trip.
Troy's Maria Casas Blas defeated Bethune-Cookman's Romero, 6-2, 6-2 to secure a victory for the Trojans. Troy improved to 5-5 while Bethune-Cookman fell to 1-6 on the year.
DOUBLES
• Celia Montero Estevan and Casas Blas picked up the first doubles match over Godbolt and Ruele, 6-1.
• Chunxi Guo and Pei Ju Hsieh made the move from court two to court one for the match and kept their perfect record intact defeating Butt and Smith, 6-4. Guo and Hsieh are now 9-0 in doubles play this season.
SINGLES
• Hsieh secured a victory to open up singles play, 6-0, 6-1, over Ruele on court three.
• Matea Mihaljevic defeated Ncube, 6-3, 6-4 to give the Trojans a commanding 3-0 advantage.
• Troy dropped its only match of the day as Butt defeated Tingting Pei, 6-4, 6-3.
• Casas Blas then clinched the match victory for the Trojans 6-2, 6-2 over Romero. It was the third straight win for Casas Blas upping her season record to 6-2.
