Â
Sophomore newcomer Austin Garofalo had an outstanding weekend at the plate – going 6-for-12 with three doubles, two RBI and two runs in the three games. Also catching fire at the plate were veterans Drew Frederic and Chase Smartt who both batted at a .455 clip – Frederic hit two homers and Smartt had two doubles.
Â
Taking the mound for head coach Mark Smartt and Troy is freshman righty Bay Witcher. Witcher is making the second appearance of his young career as he started game two of the season.
