Troy Heads to Auburn for Tiger Invitational

TROY, Alabama – The Troy softball team heads up the road to Auburn, Alabama to participate in the Tiger Invitational. Troy opens the Friday at 11:30 a.m. against Eastern Illinois before going on to play North Dakota State, Villanova, and No.22 Auburn.
The Trojans have started off the 2019 campaign 9-3 with their only losses coming to a No. 9 Alabama and Missouri.
Bailey Taylor leads the offensive attack for Troy batting .480 with 17 RBIs in 12 hits including a grand slam and a pair of three-run home runs. Talia Truitt is just behind Taylor with a .469 batting average with 15 hits in 32 at bats.
Annie Willis and Leanna Johnson have split the majority of the time in the circle. Willis currently holds a 1.86 ERA with 24 strikeouts while Johnson has a 2.12 ERA with 46 strikeouts.

- Eastern Illinois comes into the matchup 3-6 this season with a pair of wins over Kennesaw State and a win over Sun Belt Conference for Georgia State. Kendyl McKeough led the Panthers at the plate last weekend in the Samford Classic with six hits including three doubles. Troy currently leads the series over the Panthers 3-1.
- North Dakota State enters the weekend 4-4 including a win in extra innings to Sun Belt Conference foe Texas State. KK Leddy leads the way in the circle after recording a double-figure strikeout game against UTSA and tossing a shutout against Northern Colorado. This will Troy's first meeting with NDSU.
- Villanova began their season in the Diamond 9 Classic with Troy. They finished with a record of 3-2 with wins over Iowa, LIU Brooklyn and Bethune-Cookman. Paige Rauch has started the season 3-0 on the mound with a 1.21 ERA over 17.1 innings pitched. Troy leads the series 1-0 with the teams last meeting in 2009.
- Auburn enters the contest 7-3 this season. Casey McCrackin and Justus Perry both enter the weekend having reached base in every game for the Tigers this season. Auburn currently leads the series with Troy 7-17-1 having last met in Auburn last year where Troy fell 5-0.
