Indoor Track and Field Prepped for Sun Belt Championships

TROY, Alabama – The Troy indoor track and field team's 2019 season will culminate with the Sun Belt Indoor Championship at the Birmingham CrossPlex Monday and Tuesday. The meet will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

The championship will begin at 9 a.m. Monday with the combined events, kicking off with the heptathlon. Field events are set to start at 12 p.m. and running events at 4:15 p.m.

On Tuesday, the remainder of the heptathlon events will start at 9 a.m., once again, and will be followed by the pentathlon. The field events will start at 12 p.m. and the finals of the running events will get going at 12:30 p.m.

The Trojans have set numerous school records and personal bests throughout this year's campaign. Leading the squad so far in 2018 have been Precious Ogba, Gemma Finch, Tiarra Bailey and Tanner Guest.

Ogba has racked up victory after victory in the 200m and 400m dashes all season, as well as leading the 4x400m relay team. Finch, Bailey and Guest all hold school records in the 800m, 600m and the mile, respectively.

Last season, Troy tied a school record for its highest finish ever at the Sun Belt Indoor Championships, coming in fifth as a team. The Trojans' best individual finish at the championship was Indiya Summerville, who earned gold in the shot put.
