Kayla Robinson Named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week

TROY, Ala. – Troy women's basketball's Kayla Robinson was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week after a stellar week in Las Vegas.
Robinson earned her fifth career player of the week honor after averaging 23.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 0.5 steals while shooting 48.4 percent from the field, 44.4 percent from behind-the-arc and 70.6 percent from the free throw line in a pair of wins during the South Point Holiday Hoops Classic.
In Troy's 12-point come-from-behind victory over Kent State on Friday Robinson scored a season-high 25 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the field and 3-of-4 shooting from behind the arc. She also grabbed three boards and dished out an assist and picked up a steal. The day before she led the Trojans in scoring with 21 points and five rebounds against Toledo.
Robinson leads Troy, and ranks 10th in the Sun Belt Conference, with 13.4 points per game. She also ranks third on the team in rebounds (4.9) and assists (1.1) per game.
Robinson becomes the first Trojan since the 2017-18 season to be named the Sun Belt Player of the Week. That season, Robinson won all four honors that Troy received. Her five player of the week honors is tied for the most in program history with Mandee Armstrong who was honored five times by the Mid-Continent Conference between 1994-97.
Troy, 9-2 overall, will be back in action in 2020 to open Sun Belt Conference play on Jan. 2 inside Trojan Arena when they host Coastal Carolina at 6 p.m.
