Notes: Women's Basketball to Host ETSU in Final Home Game of 2019

TROY, Ala. – Troy women's basketball will be at home one final time during the 2019 calendar year when they host East Tennessee State University on Wednesday at noon inside Trojan Arena. The Trojans will be hosting their annual education day as well as wearing ugly Christmas sweaters and encourage those in attendance to wear theirs for the game as well.
Troy Trojans (5-2)

On Wednesday Troy will look to extend its Trojan Arena winning streak to four games. The Trojans are a perfect 3-0 at home this season with one home game left before closing out 2019 on the road at Chattanooga and Las Vegas. Leading the way for Troy this season has been junior guard Jasmine Robinson who leads the team with 13.3 points per game and 3.1 assists per game. Robinson is one of three Trojans averaging double-digit points with Japonica James averaging 11.8 and Kayla Robinson averaging 11.3.

East Tennessee State University enters Trojan Arena on Wednesday with a 3-7 overall record and on a one-game losing streak after falling to Cleveland State on Sunday, 54-62. The Bucs defeated Wake Forest of the ACC on Thursday, 67-60. This season ETSU has gotten a lot of its scoring from Micah Scheetz who has started all 10 games and is averaging 15.0 points per game. Sheetz is also averaging 3.6 rebounds per game. Teams have been able to jump on ETSU early in games, as they have been outcored 181 to 145 in the first-quarter this season. ETSU opened the year with a close loss to now ranked No. 23 Tennessee, 68-72. In that game they were led by Erica Haynes-Overton who scored 41-points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Senior guard Kayla Robinson is just 22 points shy of reach 1,000 points in her career. When she reaches the milestone, she will become just the 23rd player in Troy women's basketball history to reach the feat. She enters Wednesday with 978 career points. Last year against ETSU Robinson scored a career-high 24 points.
Trojan Storylines
• Amber Rivers joins Kayla Robinson on the quest for 1000 career points. The senior has currently scored 908 points in her Troy career and is just 92 points away from becoming the 24th member of the elite group
• Troy picked up its second win in the month of December last Wednesday with a 72-42 victory over AUM. Troy improved its record in the month of December to 5-1 since the 2018-19 season
• Troy will play its final home game of 2019 on Wednesday against East Tennessee State University. Following Wednesday's game Troy will close out the year with a game at Chattanooga before playing two games in Las Vegas. The Trojans will be back at home on Jan. 2 to open Sun Belt Conference play against Coastal Carolina at 6 p.m.
• When Troy has won the opening tip this season they have posted a perfect 5-0 record
• Troy continues to lead the nation in both total rebounds per game (58.14) and offensive rebounds per game (26.6). They also rank 5th nationally free throws made (159) and 11th in scoring offense (82.3)
• Alexus Dye's 4.3 offensive boards per game is the 21st best average in the country and the third best in the Sun Belt. The top average is 6.4
• In the first RPI report released on Dec. 9, 2019 Troy's RPI was 36 out of 351 teams. The 36 RPI is not only the best mark in the Sun Belt Conference, it's also the highest RPI Troy has earned in program history
