Kaleb Barker Named Sun Belt Player of the Week & Manning Star of the Week

TROY, Ala. – Coming off a record-setting performance Saturday, Troy senior quarterback Kaleb Barker has been named the Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week and an Allstate Sugar Bowl Manning Star of the Week, both groups announced Monday.

Barker tied a Troy school record with six touchdown passes – five in the first half – in the Trojans' victory at Texas State this past weekend. His tally is the third most in the FBS this season and the second most in Sun Belt history.

The Decatur, Alabama native completed 30-of-43 passes for 363 yards in the game for his sixth 300-yard game of the season. Barker joins LSU's Joe Burrow and Alabama's Tua Tagovailoa as the only three quarterbacks to throw for at least 360 yards, complete 69 percent of his passes and have six touchdowns in a win this season.

Barker threw touchdown passes to five different players in the game, including two to running back Trevon Woolfolk, who became the first Troy running back in the school's DI history to have a pair of receiving touchdowns in a game.

His 30 touchdown passes on the season is already the third most in Troy and Sun Belt Conference history – the Sun Belt record is 37 and the Troy record is 41. Barker's 12 touchdown passes in the month of November lead the country while his 177.45 passer rating in the month is also tops nationally (minimum 100 attempts).

The Barker-led offense has scored 112 points the last two games, which is the second most in the country behind Ohio State and the third most over a two-game period in school history.

Troy travels to Louisiana Saturday for its final road game of the season. The Trojans sit 5-5 on the season and are one victory away from its fourth straight season of bowl eligibility.
