Trojans Complete Day One of the Roberta Alison Classic

TROY, Ala.- Trojans completed day one of the Roberta Alison Classic hosted by the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Ala., where the Trojans saw strong performances from Chunxi Guo and Tijana Svitlica in singles play.
Singles Play
· Freshman Tijana Svitlica went 2-0 on the day in singles with wins over Aleksandra Sredojevic of Lewis University, 6-4, 6-4 and a win over Bea Acena of Alabama State, 6-3, 6-4.
· Sophomore Chunxi Guo also went 2-0 on the day in singles with wins over Christina Zordani of Wisconsin, 6-2, 6-3 and a win over Marlene Hermann of UAB, 6-1, 6-1.
· Pei Ju Hsieh opened singles play with a win over Annabelle Andrinopolous of Indiana, 7-6(4), 6-7(8), 7-5, but then lost her next matchup 6-2, 6-1 to Luca Fabian of Alabama.
· Anastasiia Khokhlova also won her opening singles match 6-4, 7-5 over Sofia Pinedo of Kennesaw State, but then lost 6-0. 2-6, 6-3 to Adela Wasserbauerova of UAB.
· Shevita Aulana began singles play with a win over Mila Mejic of Indiana, 6-4, 6-3, but then lost the following match to Madelena Andrade of Alabama State, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.
· Matea Mihaljevic started singles play with a loss to Kenzy Middlebrooks of Clemson, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3, but then bounced back with a win over Jule Strief of Tennessee-Martin, 6-1, 6-1.
Coming Up in Singles
· Svitlica will now take on Karen Alvarez of Iowa State at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
· Guo will now take on Taylor Dean of Kennesaw State at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
· Hsieh will now take on Melissa Pick of Wisconsin at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
· Khokhlova will now take on Yunuen Elizarraras of East Tennessee State at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
· Aulana will now take on Leslie Soto Bustamante of South Alabama at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
· Mihaljevic will now turn her attention to Valeria Nikolaev of Mississippi State, as they are set to play at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Doubles Play
· Shevita Aulana and Matea Mihaljevic paired up in round robin play and defeated Niedzialowski and Sijan of Tennessee-Martin, 6-3.
· Chunxi Guo and Pei Ju Hsieh paired up and lost their opening doubles match 7-5 to Streng and Ogut of Northwestern.
· Anastasiia Khokhlova paired up with Tijana Svitlica and lost their opening doubles match to Hu and Saticulescu of Indiana, 6-2.
Coming Up in Doubles
· Aulana and Mihaljevic will now take on Popova and Andrade of Alabama State at 10 a.m. on Saturday, then will also face Jarrett and Castellanos of Kennesaw State at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
· Guo and Hsieh will now face Bernard and McKamey of Indiana at 10 a.m on Saturday.
· Khokhlova and Svitlica's next match will be against Bustamante and Pasanen of South Alabama at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
