Trojans Start off ITA Southern Regionals Strong

TROY, Ala.- The Trojans complete a strong first day of action at the ITA Southern Regional, including strong singles performances from the team and a complete effort in doubles play.
In doubles play, the Trojan pair of Matea Mihaljevic and Pei Ju Hsieh faced off against te pair of Ahmed/Moreno from McNeese, falling in the matchup by a score of 8-3. The other Trojan pair in doubles action was the pair of Anastasiia Khrustaleva and Shevita Aulana who faced off against Hermann/Hecking of UAB, eventually losing in the matchup 8-4.
In singles action, Troy had a solid showing from all four competitors. Freshman Shevita Aulana won both of her matches on the day, defeating Emma Dancetovic of NSU by a score of 1-6, 7-5, 6-1 before moving on and defeating Angeles Cueto of ULM by a score of 7-5, 7-5. Freshman Anastasiia Khrustaleva was matched up against Megan Bertrands of UAB, putting up a good fight but eventually losing by a score of 7-6(0), 6-1. Junior Pei Ju Hsieh faced off against Pati Polanska of NSU, winning 6-2, 6-1, before advancing to play Arianna Beltrame of SU and defeating her by a score of 6-2, 6-0.
In singles action tomorrow, Pei Ju Hsieh will face off against Ebru Yazgan of USM and Shevita Aulana will face Cristina Moll Alles of JSU.
