Men's Tennis Continues Successful Start Under Vargas

TROY, Ala. - Troy men's tennis continued with a confident start of 2019 season by clinching a 6-1 win against AUM on Friday afternoon at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
In the doubles action, freshman Luis Foix and sophomore Jorge Poyatos defeated their opponents from AUM 6-4, while junior Oskar Michalek and freshman Manuel Bernard won in a fast manner, 6-1. Senior Jiaqi Duan and sophomore Pelayo Antuna were defeated by Eban Straker-Meads and Jose Garcia from AUM,6-4.
Followed by the doubles play, the Trojans had no trouble in singles as all five wins came in two sets. Sophomore Antonio Selma appeared at No.6 spot and got his first win of the season by defeating Giovanni Bellio, 7-6,6-4. Michalek fell short at No.1 spot against Eban Straker-Meads, 2-6, 3-6. The trio of Antuna, Duan, and Bernard now have two singles victories in a row, while adding one more victory for each player in the doubles play.
Troy men's tennis will be back in action next Friday against Alabama A&M at home. The first serve is set for 2 p.m.
