TROY GAME NOTES

Troy, Ala. – Troy men's basketball will travel to Monroe, La., for a Thursday contest against ULM. Tip is set for 7 p.m. with the game broadcast live on ESPN+.

The Trojans (10-8, 3-3 SBC) defeated Georgia State, 77-75 on Saturday in Trojan Arena. Senior Jordon Varnado hit a three-pointer with 1.7 seconds remaining to knock off the Panthers. Varnado finished with a career-high tying 32 points on a career-high tying 12 field goals made with nine rebounds, three assists and three blocks.

Junior Charles Norman added 15 points off the bench with four three-pointers made in an effective 17 minutes of action. Senior Alex Hicks nearly posted a double double in eight points and nine rebounds.

On the season, Varnado leads the Trojans averaging 20.6 points per game, third in the Sun Belt Conference on 51.5 percent shooting, fourth in conference, while grabbing 7.7 rebounds, sixth-most in conference.

Hicks paces the team in rebounds per game (7.9) which is the fifth-most in conference while averaging 11.7 points per contest. Sophomore Darian Adams leads the team in assists per game with averaging 3.0.

Sun Belt Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Senior Jordon Varnado was named the Sun Belt Men's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday after averaging 32.0 points on 64.9 percent (24-of-37) shooting from the field, 9.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 blocks per game over Troy's 1-1 week.

The Brownsville, Tenn., native's honor marks the first time a Troy player won the weekly award since Alex Hicks took home the accolade on Jan. 15, 2018. This also marks the third time in Varnado's career that he has earned this award.

Scouting ULM
ULM saw two players combine to score 50 points in its 99-95 win over Louisiana on Saturday to improve to 10-7 overall and 3-2 in Sun Belt action.

In the game, senior Daishon Smith led the Warhawks with 27 points, a career-high seven rebounds, a career-high eight assists and two steals while freshman Michael Ertel poured in a career-high 23 points with two rebounds, two assists and a steal.

Smith leads the team and Sun Belt Conference averaging 21.2 points per game, 22nd in Division I, while leading the conference shooting 44.6 percent (50-112) from three. ULM as a team leads the conference in free throw percentage at 78.4 (290-370).

Series History
Thursday's matchup marks the 20th meeting between the Trojans and Warhawks. Troy holds the series advantage, 11-8, winning two of the last three meetings. The Trojans dropped the last contest in Monroe, La., 76-71 on Jan. 25, 2018.

In the last meeting, Troy topped ULM, 73-67 on Feb. 24, 2018 in Trojan Arena. In the game, then-juniors Alex Hicks and Jordon Varnado posted double doubles in 17 points with 10 rebounds and 23 points with 10 rebounds, respectively.
