TROY, Ala. – Troy indoor track and field is headed to the Birmingham CrossPlex Friday to participate in the UAB Blazer Invitational to kick off the 2019 portion of its campaign.
Â
The field events will start off the meet at 9 a.m. Friday and conclude at 5 p.m., while the running events begin with the 5000m at 10:45 a.m. and wrap up with the 4x400m relay at 6:30 p.m. Along with in-state foe UAB, the meet will include Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Georgia, Ole Miss, Miami and rival South Alabama.
Â
The Trojans got off to a strong start at the BSC Panther Indoor Ice Breaker back in November, where the men's squad won the meet and the women's team finished as the runner-up.
Â
Some players to watch include Tyree Reed – comes in with the top-seeded time in the 60m dash – and Kara Coulter – seeded fourth in the women's 5000m race. The 2017 Sun Belt Freshmen of the Year Jared Hayes and Precious Ogba are poised to make a splash in the men's and women's 300m dashes, respectively.
Â
Junior Titus Sizemore, an NCAA East Preliminary competitor in his first two seasons, will aim to lead the men on the field side of things. After a Sun Belt Championship in the shot put last year, Indiya Summerville is set to take on stiff competition in the same event Friday.
