Troy Loses Another Five-Set Heartbreaker

TROY, Alabama – Troy volleyball dropped a tight five-set match to Georgia State in their Sun Belt home opener at Trojan Arena Friday night.
The Trojans (6-10, 0-3) led 2-0 after the first two sets, before Georgia State (4-8, 1-1) stormed back to win the final three frames. The Panthers caught fire in the middle of the third set and didn't slow down until they clinched the match.
In that third set, Troy led 10-4 and looked to be in control en route to a sweep. However, the Panthers had other plans as they eventually knotted things up at 18 all – they won the set 25-21.
Cheyenne Hayes' impressive double-digit kill streak continued with 12 kills in the match – marking 14 straight that she's reached that threshold. Jenni Young followed close behind with 11 kills of her own.
Sun Belt assists leader Amara Anderson recorded another double-double with 38 assists and 13 digs – Anderson led the conference and ranked eighth nationally in assists entering the weekend.

• With Friday's loss, Troy has now lost four five-set matches this year – a 1-4 record. Last season, the Trojans were 5-3 in such games.
• Over the 14 matches of her streak, Cheyenne Hayes has accumulated 218 kills. She leads the team in the category and ranked third in the league prior to this weekend.
