LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A fierce Troy rally fell just short Saturday night, as it fell in five sets to Little Rock in its final game of a brief three-game road trip.
After falling behind two sets to none, Troy (6-9, 0-2) stormed all the way back to force a fifth set before dropping the decisive set 16-14.
Savannah Moore had a career game on the court, recording a personal-best 19 kills with a .500 attacking percentage in the match. The junior also recorded six total blocks and scored 23.5 points for the Trojans.
The freshman tandem of Amara Anderson and Lacey Jeffcoat continued providing valuable contributions for Troy. Anderson posted 56 assists and now holds three of the top five single-game assist totals in the conference this season; Jeffcoat recorded a career-high 26 digs – the most by a Troy player in over two years.
Little Rock (10-5, 2-0) started off strong with 25-18 and 25-23 wins in the first two sets. But Troy bounced back with 25-19 and 25-21 wins of their own to send it to five.
The fifth set went back-and-forth in every sense of the phrase as neither team sustained a rally longer than two points. It was all tied at 14 when Little Rock scored two straight to clinch the match.
Notable
• The streak continues! Sophomore Cheyenne Hayes recorded 15 kills for her 13th straight game in double-digits. Hayes also posted 17 digs for her fifth double-double of the season.
• Libero Lacey Jeffcoat's 26 digs in the game were the most by a Troy player since Alisha Hinrichs had 30 against Portland on September 16, 2016. They were also the sixth most by any player in the conference this year.
