Troy Volleyball Set to Host Troy Invitational

TROY, Alabama – Troy volleyball will begin its 2018 campaign by hosting Southern, Southeast Missouri State and Southeastern Louisiana, respectively, in the Troy Invitational at Trojan Arena Friday and Saturday.

The Trojans are set to face Southern at 6:30 p.m. Friday before meeting SEMO at 10 a.m. and Southeastern Louisiana at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

In its second season under head coach Josh Lauer, the squad returns just seven student-athletes from last year, while bringing in eight new faces in the best signing class in program history. PrepVolleyball.com listed Troy's recruiting class in the "High Honorable Mention" category of its annual ranking of the top classes in the country – one of just three Sun Belt teams that made the list.

Troy was able to build some good momentum near the end of last year's campaign. The Trojans earned a few crucial wins in Trojan Arena down the stretch and clawed their way into the Sun Belt Conference Tournament – where they knocked out rival South Alabama with a thrilling five-set victory in the opening round of the tournament.
