Troy Soccer Opens Preseason Training Camp

TROY, Alabama – There were plenty of new faces and names to learn on Wednesday as 19 newcomers joined 11 returning players for the first day of preseason training at the Troy Soccer Complex.
The team conditioned in the morning before battling through light rain during the midday training session. The Trojans will have 26 total training sessions before kicking off the regular season on Aug. 16 on the road at Jacksonville followed by a Tallahassee swing to face Florida State, a team that finished last season ranked No. 15.
Last year, Troy went 8-10-2 under head coach Ged O'Connor in his first season at the helm. The Trojans aim to better that mark by inserting the new talent right away.
"It's a fresh start with a new team," O'Connor said. "We're looking forward to our new players mixing with our returning players and forming a bond that will lay the foundation for not only a successful year, but a successful future for the program."
The Trojans' home opener is set for Aug. 24 against Kennesaw State at 7 p.m.
