TROY, Alabama – Troy distance runner Daniel Glick has been selected to the 2017-18 Google Cloud Academic All-America Men's Cross Country/Track & Field Third Team after posting a perfect 4.0 GPA, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday morning.
Â
Glick, a junior from Rome, Ga., embodies the true meaning of "student-athlete" succeeding both in his degree program of communication arts and in cross country/track & field competitions all year.
Â
He competed in five different events during the cross country season including an 11th-place finish in the JSU Foothills Invitational. On the track, he finished third in the 3000-meter steeplechase at the Sun Belt Outdoor Championships and won the 1500-meter run at the War Eagle Invitational.
Â
With the honor, he became the first track and field/cross country athlete in school history to be named to an Academic All-America team. He's just the 14th Troy student-athlete to receive the award and only the seventh in the school's Division I era. Â Â
Quotable – Troy director Marc Davis
"Daniel is a hard worker on and off the track as evidenced by his achievements. He is one of the most well-rounded student athletes we have on our team, and we are proud of his accomplishments."
