Troy Outdoor Prepped for NCAA East Prelims

TROY, Alabama – Troy outdoor track and field has 12 athletes competing in 10 different events at the NCAA East Preliminary Round hosted by South Florida in Tampa Thursday through Saturday.

Sun Belt Men's Freshman and Newcomer of the Year Jared Hayes will compete in the 200-meter dash and Women's Freshman of the Year Precious Ogba is set to run in the 400-meter.

The most experienced Trojan in the Prelims is Hakim Montgomery, who is making his third consecutive trip to postseason play – racing in the 100-meter sprint. Also on the track, Amir Harris will compete in the 400-meter and Jovan Brown runs in the 400-meter hurdles.

Some more experience from the team will come on the field side, with Titus Sizemore, Michael Alvernaz and Jaevyn Wortham will compete in the high jump, hammer throw and discus, respectively.

Wrapping up the competitors, multi-event athlete Riley Schwietz will throw the javelin and the Sun Belt Champion 4x100-meter relay team will close out the meet Saturday.
