TROY, Alabama- In its final weekend at the Troy Softball Complex, Troy (30-21, 14-10 SBC) delivered two huge wins over the league-leading No. 21 Texas State Bobcats (36-12, 15-4) on Saturday at the Troy Softball Complex. Troy outlasted the Bobcats in eight innings in game one for the 4-3 victory and game two featured a 1-0 shutout victory.
Â
Peyton Glover and Annie Willis combined to get the wins in the circle with the help of an impressive defense and timely production at the plate.
Â
Game one: Troy 4, Texas State 3
The score was locked at 2-2 after seven innings after Troy scored both its runs in the bottom of the first on a two-run home run from Stephanie Snyder, her seventh of the season. Texas State plated one run in the first inning and tied the game on an RBI-single in the fifth.
Â
The Bobcats took a one-run lead in the eighth on a solo home run from Bailee Carter, but the Trojans rallied as Katie Webb tied the game with an RBI-single scoring Taylor Corbett from third. A fielding error on Texas State allowed Kaylee Hussey to reach first and Madeline Porter to cross the plate as Troy earned the dramatic walk-off victory, and its first win over the Bobcats since 2016.
Â
Porter led the efforts at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, while Logan Calhoun, Webb and Snyder all added one hit each. While Texas State ace Randi Rupp threw eight strikeouts, timely hits from the Trojans and defensive miscues from the Bobcats gave the Trojans the advantage.
Â
Willis made her 23rd start in the circle, but it was Glover who entered in relief in the third inning to receive the win. Glover now improves to 10-7 on the season. Both pitchers threw two strikeouts in the game.
Â
Game two: Troy 1, Texas State 0
Willis returned for game two of the day to dominate in the circle, only giving up two hits, with her fourth complete game shutout of the season. The top-20 Trojan defense was on display as Troy did not allow Texas State to plate a run in game two of the twin bill.
Â
An RBI-single from senior Carli Kayler in the second inning was enough for Troy to walk away with the second victory of the day. Snyder led off the inning with an infield single and Kayler placed a ball perfectly up the middle to allow Snyder to slide into home.
Â
Calhoun, Hope Hernandez, and Taylor Corbett all contributed to Troy's five hits. With the win, Willis improves to 16-6 on the year. She sat down four batters in seven innings of work.
Â

"I thought our girls fought for every pitch today," head coach Beth Mullins said. "I am very proud of their grit through both games. We had really good pitching, solid defense and timely hitting in games one and two, and that will always give you a good shot to win a ball game. We are going to have to come back out tomorrow and show the same fight and grit we showed."
