AUBURN, Alabama – A relatively new group of athletes led Troy outdoor track and field to success at the War Eagle Invitational this weekend.

The Trojans' distance runners shined the brightest amongst a strong meet loaded with heavy competitors from across the country.

Daniel Glick picked up the only event win of the day for Troy, despite several personal bests from individuals across the board. Glick won the 1500-meters with a 4:01.91, just off a season-best.

In the women's 1500-meters, Krystin Guirey ran the fastest time in her career with a 5:08.48 to come away with a runner-up finish in the event. Meanwhile, Sara Zylstra crossed the line with a third-place finish in the women's 5000-meter run.

The dynamic freshman duo of Amir Harris and Jared Hayes stayed hot on the track this weekend. The two finished third and fourth, respectively, with personal-bests in the 400-meter dash.

Troy will head to the historic Penn Relays in Philadelphia this weekend, starting the final push before the Sun Belt Championships in May.

Notable
• Riley Schwietz has been on fire as of late, winning her first collegiate event two weekends ago and breaking the school record in the heptathlon last weekend.

• Five returning Trojans have NCAA postseason experience entering this year. Junior Hakim Montgomery has earned a trip in each of his first two seasons.

• Troy indoor track and field placed fifth at the conference championships in February, tying for the highest finish in program history – finished fifth twice before.

• No days off. The Trojans will compete in at least one meet each weekend from March 16 until the Sun Belt Outdoor Championships in San Marcos, Texas, May 11-13.
