BIRMINGHAM- Troy softball (24-17) continued its winning streak as the team made the quick trip to Birmingham and defeated UAB (15-25-1) 6-4 on Tuesday night.

Katie Webb and Stephanie Snyder led the efforts at the plate with two hits each, while five other Trojans added one hit. Reigning Sun Belt Player of the Week, Kaylee Hussey went 1-for-4 with one RBI and two runs scored.

UAB plated the first run of the game in the bottom of the first, but Troy answered back with a run of its own as back-to-back singles from Hussey and Erica Davis put two runners on. The Blazers made a few fielding errors, allowing the Trojans to cross the plate, tying the game at 1-1.

The momentum stayed on Troy's side as Katie Webb doubled in the third inning, followed by a single from Snyder. Defensive miscues continued to hurt the Blazers, as Webb found her way across the plate. A fielder's choice from Hussey sent Snyder home as she barely beat out the tag, giving the Trojans a 3-1 lead. Troy posted two more runs in the inning as a dropped fly ball plated Davis and Hussey.

A solo home run from UAB in the home half of the third cut into Troy's lead, but an RBI-single from Webb in the fourth gave Troy its final run of the game.

It was all left up to the ninth-ranked defense, who allowed one more Blazer run to score, but worked through a few jams the end the game, earning the 6-4 victory to move to 24-17 on the season.

Annie Willis delivered the win in the circle, improving to 12-4 on the year. Peyton Glover entered in the bottom of the sixth, down by two runs, and kept the Blazers at bay. She picked up her conference-leading fourth save of the season.

NOTEWORTHY

Troy moves to 17-12 overall in the series with the Blazers, and evened the series at 1-1 for this season.
Webb added to her team-high doubles total, hitting her 11^th double of the season.
Troy has outscored its opponents 207-147 and is 17-1 when leading after six innings.
Madeline Porter leads the team with eight sacrifice bunts.

UP NEXT
Troy will return home to host Coastal Carolina in a three-game conference series this weekend. Dates and times are still pending due to projected inclement weather in the forecast.
