Women’s Tennis Hits the Road for Pair of Matches

TROY, Alabama- After defeating Nicholls State for its first win of the season, Troy (1-6) will make the trip to Mobile, Ala., and Macon Ga., to face UTSA and Mercer, respectively. Saturday's match against UTSA is set for 11 a.m., while first serve on Monday, March 12, against Mercer will be at 9 a.m.
The Trojans won all but one match in their win over Nicholls State (5-3), cruising to a 6-1 victory. Efriliya Herlina, Nancy Karaky and Matea Mihaljevic all earned two set victories, while Jiayuan Xue came through in three sets. Back-to-back 6-2 victories on the doubles courts got the Trojans off to a 1-0 lead early in the match.
UTSA enters the matchup 4-6 on the season after a 4-0 sweep of Texas State last weekend. Sophomore Laura Cabrera leads the Roadrunners with an 8-2 overall record this season, only falling to Northwestern State and Texas A&M- Corpus Christi.
On Monday, the Trojans will make the trip to Mercer, who is currently 6-6 on the season and is coming off a 6-0 victory over Savannah State. Troy defeated the Bears in the teams' last meeting in 2016, 5-2.
