Men's Golf Shoots Up Leaderboard on Day Two of Tiger Invitational

OPELIKA, Alabama – A pair of Trojans shot under par led by Calum Masters' 4-under 68 as Troy climbed three spots on the leaderboard into 11th place following Monday's second round of the Tiger Invitational at the Grand National Lakes Course.
Masters carded six birdies on the day with four coming on the back nine, including three consecutive birdies to close out his round. Masters' 4-under is the best round by Trojan this season and was his first round in the red this year. He climbed 45 spots on the individual leaderboard into a tie for 32nd place.
Dean Martin, who is tied for 27th place, also turned in his best round of the year with a 1-under 71 after carding six birdies, three on each side of turn. Even through his first 10 holes, Martin suffered back-to-back bogeys on the second and third to run his card to 2-over. However, a birdie on the par-5 fourth and then consecutive red numbers on No. 6 and No. 7 pushed him to 1-under where he finished.
Troy dominated the par-5 holes on Monday as the four Trojans whose cards counted towards the team score combined to post a 9-under on the par-5s after playing them at just 1-under in Sunday's opening round.
Ike Alexander shot even par on Monday and is tied with Martin for 27th place. He carded four birdies on the day with three coming after the turn, including on his final hole of the day. Connor Futrell slipped into a tie for 73rd place following a 5-over 77 with three birdies and Mac Murphy is tied for 78th after sinking a pair of birdies in his round of 79.
Troy is just seven shots back of Georgia State and Southern Miss for fifth place. The Trojans' round of 288 on Monday was the tied for the fifth-best in the field. No. 9 Auburn leads Maryland and Mississippi State by 14 shots, while Kennesaw State is one shot up on the pair tied for fifth.
The Trojans along with UNC Greensboro and Chattanooga will be in the final wave off No. 10 in Tuesday's final round. Tee times begin at 10:20 a.m. and continue until 11 a.m. for the final pairings.
