TROY, Alabama – Troy baseball will kick off a four-game home stretch with a midweek game against Alabama State on "80's Night" at Riddle-Pace Field Tuesday.
The Trojans (16-8) are coming off a big road series win at conference rival Louisiana last weekend – the first in six years over the Cajuns.
Strong pitching performances led the Trojans all weekend – the staff has posted a 2.10 team earned run average over the last 12 games.
Sadler Goodwin (1-2, 7.43) will start on the mound for Troy Tuesday night. The junior's last outing was the fifth of the aforementioned 12-game stretch – a one-run, four-hit outing in the Trojans' win at UAB.
After a short dry spell, the Trojan bats are starting to wake back up – recording 27 hits in the three-game series this weekend. Matt Sanders was responsible for 10 of those, finishing the set 10-for-13 with five runs scored, three doubles and an RBI.
The Trojans and the Hornets (12-10) have met 26 times dating back to 1993. Troy has won the last four meetings between the two in-state foes, including a two-game sweep of the season series in 2017.
Alabama State are jumping back into the swing of baseball season after a rare off-weekend. The Hornets are led offensively by Ray Hernandez, who has launched seven homers and driven in 20 runs this season.
