CONWAY, South Carolina- Troy women's tennis (3-10) dropped its neutral conference match to South Alabama (12-1) 5-2 at Stevens Tennis Complex in Conway, S.C.
The Jaguars swept the doubles matches defeating Troy 6-2 on court one and 6-3 on court three to take the initial point.
South Alabama continued its momentum with a 6-1, 6-1 win on court six in singles play against freshman Maria Casas Blas, and No. 99 Alexandria Stiteler pulled out a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Sanae Ohta on court one. South Alabama also picked up a win on court two, taking a 4-0 lead over the Trojans.
Troy rallied back as Nancy Karaky defeated Maxine Palmen in a third set tiebreaker, 3-6, 6-2, 10-2 on court three for Troy's first point of the match, and freshman Matea Mihaljevic followed with a 7-6 (8-6), 6-4 win.
Troy's rally fell short as South Alabama took the next two victories as the Trojans slipped to 3-10 on the season.
