Troy Falls in Final Games of Road Swing

DENTON, Texas – After earning a big conference win on the road against UTA, the Troy women's tennis (3-9) dropped to SMU and North Texas 4-1 on Friday and Saturday to round out its Spring Break road trip.
On Friday, SMU swept the doubles matches 6-1, 6-2, 6-4, taking the early point. Freshman Matea Mihaljevic picked up the Trojans' lone win of the day with a 6-3, 6-2 win on court five over Tiffany Holleback, but the Mustangs walked away with the 4-1 victory over the Trojans.
Troy then made the trip to Denton on Saturday, but fell 4-1 to North Texas.
Freshmen Pei Ju Hsieh and Maria Casas Blas won the first doubles match of the day 6-1, but the Mean Green stormed back to take the last two matches to clinch the doubles point.
In singles play, Nancy Karaky defeated Nidhi Surapaneni 6-1, 7-5 on court four, but North Texas took the next three matches to seal the win.

Troy will travel to Conway, S.C., for two big Sun Belt matches against South Alabama and Georgia State on March 24 and 25. Saturday's match against the Jaguars is set for 9 a.m., and first serve on Sunday will be at 8 a.m.
